Great Lakes Cheese is an award-winning, premier manufacturer and packager of natural and processed bulk, shredded, and sliced cheeses. As the nation’s largest natural cheese packager, they serve grocery, club, and super stores, as well as restaurant chains and foodservice distributors. Family and employee-owned, the company has a national footprint with facilities in Ohio, New York, Tennessee, Utah, Wisconsin, and Texas.
The goal of this B2B website design project was to attract both potential customers and potential employees. Great Lakes Cheese wants not only to sell cheese, but also to sell themselves as an amazing employer. To appeal to both audiences, we featured a mix of appetizing food photography and happy employees.
Another goal of the website project was to present Great Lakes Cheese as an industry leader. As a result, the site features updated content and a new look and feel to reflect the brand more accurately. Furthermore, a bright, optimistic persona shines through each page to reinforce the manufacturer’s place in the market.
The third and final goal was to provide people with convenient methods of communication. A series of forms allow website users to get in touch directly with sales, quality control, and sponsorship opportunities. Also, nearly every page has a coordinating call-to-action to connect visitors to the appropriate channels, which helps the client generate leads and streamline inquiries.
We also implemented the new branding for Great Lakes Cheese, which was fun and challenging. The updated look is robust and lively and contains three elemental shapes: waves, trees, and suns, along with a mixture of typographic styles and a broad and bright color palette. We employed a mixture of circles and curves to mirror the brand’s free-flowing nature. Finally, we utilized the power of color to differentiate sections of the website, enhance the user experience, and create a cohesive content structure.
Our custom website development emphasizes the factors that make Great Lakes Cheese the industry leader, showcases the company’s products, and illustrates why the family-owned business is a great place to work.
